Abstract:
This presentation will focus on an extended reach well in the Middle East. During the completion phase part of the liner had backed off leaving an 11 m gap. The completion plan called for inflow control devices to be pressure activated after setting. With the gap to openhole there was insufficient pressure build available. The presentation will review the various access and perforating options considered by the operator prior to selecting abrasive perforating, the significant solids placement and removal modelling that was conducted to ensure the operation was feasible and the actual successful intervention results.
